The Congress and Shiv Sena (UBT) jointly criticized the divisive remarks made by A. Raja, a DMK MP and an ally of the INDIA bloc, who professed belief in Lord Ram. In a speech circulated by the BJP, A. Raja asserted that India should be considered a subcontinent rather than a unified country, even going so far as to label himself as Lord Ram’s adversary.
Supriya Shrinate, the Congress spokesperson, expressed strong disagreement with Raja’s comments, stating, “I believe Lord Ram is inclusive and belongs to everyone.”

She emphasized that, in her perspective, Lord Ram, also known as Imam-e-Hind, transcends caste, community, and religion, embodying virtues such as love, compassion, and dignity. Shrinate condemned Raja’s statement during a press conference, urging people to exercise restraint in their speech.
Anand Dubey, the spokesperson for Shiv Sena-UBT, affirmed that the Indian bloc rejects A. India bloc Raja’s statement, emphasizing the importance of faith in the Constitution, Baba Sahib Ambedkar, Lord Ram, and the unity of the country. He questioned Raja’s belief system and urged leaders like Stalin Ji to address such divisive comments.
BJP leader Ravishankar Prasad labeled A. Raja’s statement as displaying “Maoist ideology” and questioned Congress leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and Mallikarjun Kharge, about their stance on Raja’s remarks. Prasad asserted that the INDIA bloc’s political platform has insulted India’s culture, denigrated Hindu deities, and challenged the country’s existence.
Prasad stressed the need to respect all faiths and urged against insulting Hindu sentiments. He quoted the Rig Vedic Indian Sanskar, emphasizing unity despite diverse paths. Prasad criticized those who reject slogans like “Bharat Maa Ki Jai” and “Jai Sri Ram,” asserting that Tamil Nadu’s refusal to accept such sentiments goes against the spirit of human harmony portrayed in the Ramayana.
