She emphasized her commitment to the people of Andhra Pradesh, highlighting her padayatra experiences while wearing the YSRCP symbol.

Having recently joined the YSR Telangana party after its merger with Congress, Sharmila claimed that her father, YS Rajasekhara Reddy, had wished for Rahul Gandhi to succeed Indira Gandhi as India’s prime minister. In preparation for the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections, she expressed support for the Congress and criticized the alleged corruption in Kaleswaram project, urging Narendra Modi to initiate a central-level investigation.

Sharmila clarified her decision not to run for office in the Telangana Assembly elections, choosing to support the Congress party instead. She emphasized the need for collaboration among parties with similar beliefs to address corruption issues involving Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
