YS Sharmila, a Congress lawmaker from Andhra Pradesh, criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not fulfilling campaign promises to invest in the state’s infrastructure. Referring to Modi as a “kedi” (a term implying failure), she accused him of neglecting Andhra Pradesh’s economic development and breaking promises made during his visit to Tirupati.

Sharmila also targeted Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy and N Chandrababu Naidu, branding them a “gang of thieves” and accusing them of being BJP henchmen. She emphasized her commitment to the people of Andhra Pradesh, highlighting her padayatra experiences while wearing the YSRCP symbol.
Having recently joined the YSR Telangana party after its merger with Congress, Sharmila claimed that her father, YS Rajasekhara Reddy, had wished for Rahul Gandhi to succeed Indira Gandhi as India’s prime minister. In preparation for the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections, she expressed support for the Congress and criticized the alleged corruption in Kaleswaram project, urging Narendra Modi to initiate a central-level investigation.
Sharmila clarified her decision not to run for office in the Telangana Assembly elections, choosing to support the Congress party instead. She emphasized the need for collaboration among parties with similar beliefs to address corruption issues involving Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

To avoid splitting anti-incumbency votes, the YSR Telangana Party, under Sharmila’s leadership, decided not to field any candidates in the upcoming elections. She expressed a willingness to step aside if it benefited the state and its citizens, aiming for a unified effort to challenge the ruling BRS administration led by KCR.
