Amit Shah, the Home Minister, expressed confidence that the BJP would secure 370 seats and the NDA more than 400 in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, ensuring their third consecutive term under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. Shah dismissed any uncertainty over the election results, asserting that opposition parties, including Congress, may find themselves in the opposition once again.

What Amit Shah says 

“We anticipate the people’s support for the BJP with 370 seats and the NDA with over 400 seats,” stated Shah at the ET NOW Global Business Summit 2024. When questioned about the possibility of other regional parties, such as Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), joining the NDA, Shah remarked that while the BJP believes in building alliances, it does not practice familial politics. Talks regarding SAD’s participation are ongoing but not finalized, he added.

Shah talks about the NDA 2024 polls. 

Shah emphasized that the 2024 polls would not be a contest between the NDA and the opposition bloc but between progress and those who merely offer slogans. Responding to Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, Shah criticized the Congress leader, stating that he lacked the right to lead such a march, attributing the country’s partition in 1947 to the Congress party.

Shah claims to enforce CAA before the 2024 elections. 

Addressing the timing of the government’s white paper in Parliament, Shah justified its release, highlighting the need for transparency about the challenges left by the Congress-led UPA government in 2014.

Shah also pledged to implement the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) before the 2024 elections, aiming to dispel misconceptions among the Muslim community. He clarified that CAA is intended to grant citizenship to those facing persecution in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh, not to revoke anyone’s Indian citizenship.

Conclusion

Regarding the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), Shah reiterated its importance, stating that it is a constitutional mandate overlooked by the Congress due to appeasement. Amit Sha  He emphasized the need for a secular country to have a uniform civil code devoid of faith-based distinctions.
