The Muslim faction alleges that the administration Gyanvapi masjid deliberately opened the Vyas Tehkhana clandestinely, during the night, in an effort to obstruct their access to any relief.
As reported by livelaw, the Gyanvapi masjid committee has contested the Varanasi district court’s decision, granting permission to Hindus for conducting puja in the Vyas Tehkhana (southern cellar of the Gyanvapi building), and has taken the matter to the Allahabad High Court.
Marking the first occurrence in thirty-one years, prayers were conducted at midnight shortly after the court directive. The Muslim side declared their intention on Wednesday to file an appeal with the Allahabad High Court, asserting that certain aspects of the Varanasi district court’s ruling were overlooked.

The Muslim faction contends that the Hindu side has failed to provide evidence of prayers being held before 1993, despite supporting documents such as the Advocate Commissioner report from 2022, the ASI report, and the 1937 ruling, all favoring the Muslim perspective. The most recent developments include the initiation of puja at the Vyas Tahkhana of the Gyanvapi mosque.
