The 37 Bodhisattva Journeys of Gyalshi Tokme Sangpo will be the subject of a day’s teachings by Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama in Gangtok.

In Gangtok’s Paljor Stadium, the Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of Tibet, is set to deliver a one-day lecture on Gyalsey Thokme Sangpo’s 37 Bodhisattva practices. Additionally, he will virtually lay the cornerstones for the Gyalwa Lhatsun Chenpo Statue project in the Simmik Khandong constituency and the Karmapa Park project at Rumtek.
The four-day visit by the Dalai Lama commenced on Monday, with a warm welcome at Libing Helipad by Sikkim’s Chief Minister, Prem Singh Golay, and other religious leaders. The spiritual leader was also greeted by high-ranking state government officials, members of the Tibetan Parliament, Tibetan Settlement Office, and Local Tibetan Assembly.

Monks from various state monasteries orchestrated a custom at the helipad, performing the “Sherbang” ritual in a spiritually charged setting, combining dance and prayer.
During December 12-14, the Tibetan spiritual leader is expected to deliver a lecture in Sikkim, coinciding with intensified diplomatic talks addressing the ongoing border tension between China and India.
Reflecting on the significance of Sikkim, where the Dalai Lama first traveled to India in 1956 for the 2500th anniversary of Buddha Jayanti, he has expressed a strong sense of nostalgia with each subsequent visit. The Dalai Lama’s secretary noted that China recognizes Sikkim as a state of India, dispelling potential reasons for irritation.
Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang expressed great honor at the Dalai Lama’s visit to Sikkim. Extending a hearty welcome at Libing Helipad in Gangtok, Tamang emphasized the privilege of receiving the Dalai Lama and the profound impact of his teachings. He hopes the visit will uplift spirits and inspire compassion, harmony, and understanding among the people of Sikkim. Tamang concluded his message by extending the warmest welcome to the Dalai Lama on behalf of the fortunate state of Sikkim.
