Amid today's 'Rajasthan Bandh', the Karni Sena protested and demanded an inquiry into the death of its chief minister.

Community groups initiated a protest and called for a state-wide bandh in Rajasthan on Wednesday following the tragic death of Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, the chief of Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena, in Jaipur.

The killing of Gogamedi on Tuesday prompted the Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena and other community groups to stage a protest, urging for a state-wide shutdown on Wednesday. The community demanded a court investigation into the circumstances surrounding Gogamedi’s death, as seen in a video posted by a news agency capturing members sitting in protest in Jaipur.

Bhawani Singh Kalvi, the son of Karni Sena founder Lokendra Singh Kalvi, stated during the protest that Gogamedi had previously requested security. The lack of security measures, despite apparent correspondence and evidence suggesting potential threats, raised questions about the circumstances leading to his tragic demise.

In response to the murder, BJP MLA Diya Kumari expressed shock, emphasizing that Gogamedi had sought security which the administration failed to provide. Gogamedi was shot dead in his Jaipur home by three assailants, one of whom was reportedly shot and killed by a companion, according to police reports.

The police have identified two suspects involved in the shooting. Rohit Rathore from Makrana Nagaur and Nitin Fouji from Mahendragath, Haryana, were named as the first and second accused, respectively. The attackers were caught on camera firing at Gogamedi in his living room before fleeing the scene.

Authorities revealed that Governor Kalraj Mishra has requested a report on the incident from the Director General of Police (DGP). The attackers, claiming to visit Gogamedi, shot one of his security guards during the confrontation. The assailants, associated with the Rohit Godara gang, are being pursued, and searches are underway to locate the two who managed to escape.

An alleged social media post by Rohit Godara, linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, is circulating online. In the post, he claims to have ordered Gogamedi’s killing due to the Rajput leader allegedly supporting his gang’s adversaries.
