Congress And BJP Clash Over UK Writer Allegedly Denied Entry Into India

UK Writer After British writer and creator Nitasha Kaul asserted that she was barred from entering India and deported from Bengaluru airport, despite having an invitation to speak at a convention from Karnataka authorities, a war of words ensued between the Congress and the BJP.

Congress Party MLA Rizwan Arshad criticized the BJP government, condemning Kaul’s deportation as an insult. Meanwhile, the BJP posted on X platform expressing gratitude to the security agencies for apprehending what they termed as anti-India elements and labeled Nitasha Kaul as a sympathizer for Pakistan.

“She (Nitasha Kaul) arrived in Bengaluru and landed at the airport. However, she was denied entry without any valid reason. A state government in a federal system extended an invitation to an academic of Indian origin, but she was informed by the authorities that she could not enter. The question is why she was denied entry into India. Is it simply because she does not align with your ideology? Is this a form of dictatorship in the country today? Is there freedom of expression and the right to participate in constitutional debates? Rizwan Arshad from the Congress addressed journalists on this matter.

He further expressed that repeatedly, the BJP attempts to silence voices that seek to uphold the Constitution and its principles, including brotherhood, fraternity, inclusivity, and equality. This is where the opposition from the BJP comes in. This is what the Sangh Parivar opposes,” stated Rizwan Arshad.

BJP Vs Congress Controversy

On the flip side, the BJP criticized the ruling Congress in Karnataka and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, questioning whether the invitation extended to the author is an attempt to challenge the Constitution and jeopardize the unity and integrity of India.

“No funds available for drought relief or the developmental needs of Karnataka, but Siddaramaiah is willing to fund the Break India Brigade to appease Rahul Gandhi and safeguard his CM Chair, all in the name of Dr. Ambedkar’s Constitution. What a disgrace,” tweeted the Karnataka BJP.

What did UK writer Nitasha say?

“I face not just ordeals and indignities, but also wrongful attempts that make me feel insulted during entry. It is a term into a pernicious and antidemocratic logic, driven by ignorance and malice,” tweeted Kashmiri-Pandit Nitasha Kaul.

In her tweets, she claimed to have been confined to a room under 24/7 surveillance and was denied “basic access” to essential facilities, including food, water, a pillow, and a blanket, despite “numerous calls” to the airport.
