Explosion at fireworks factory in Madhya Pradesh kills 6, injures 59

A tragic incident unfolded in Madhya Pradesh’s Harda district on Tuesday morning when a fireworks factory explosion resulted in the loss of at least six lives and left 59 individuals injured. The blast, which occurred around 11 am, triggered numerous explosions and engulfed approximately 60 houses near the Bairagarh locality in flames. The administration promptly evacuated over 100 households due to continuous explosions within the manufacturing facilities.

3 dozen commuters and wheelers caught in Blast

Reports indicate that a fire broke out in more than 60 houses near the factory, leading to widespread damage. Harda Collector Rishi Garg informed the media that there are fears of people being trapped in and around the factory.

The blast, located 2 km from Harda city on Magardha Road, left around 25 people injured, with many in critical condition. Over three dozen commuters and numerous two-wheelers were also caught in the explosions, adding to the chaos.

6 killed and 59 injured in Firecracker Factory blast 

Emergency response teams, including fire brigades, ambulances, and medical personnel, were swiftly deployed from nearby districts and Indore. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams were mobilized to expedite the rescue operations.

As the city was shrouded in black smoke following the explosion, ambulances and fire engines from Harda, Betul, Khandwa, and Narmadapuram rushed to the scene. The cause of the blast remains unknown, according to the police.

Doctors and an Ambulance have reached the spot. 

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav took immediate action, engaging with officials and seeking details of the incident. He directed Minister Uday Pratap Singh, Additional Chief Secretary Ajit Kesari, and Director General Home Guard Arvind Kumar to reach Harda promptly by helicopter.

A state of emergency meeting was convened by Chief Minister Yadav, during which 14 doctors were reported to have reached Harda ,fireworks  with an additional 20 ambulances on-site and 50 more en route. Medical facilities in Bhopal and Indore, along with the AIIMS Bhopal firecracker factory, were instructed to make necessary arrangements to attend to the victims.

Conclusion

In the wake of this tragedy, six fatalities have been confirmed, while 59 others are receiving treatment, with critically injured patients being transferred to Bhopal and Indore. Harda Collector Rishi Garg emphasized the ongoing efforts to provide medical assistance to those affected by the incident. The investigation into the cause of the blast is currently underway.
