The BJP has strategically organized events around the Ram temple over the past two months to energize party members and supporters ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Prime Minister Modi’s rally in Uttar Pradesh follows the momentous Pran Pratishta of Lord Ram in Ayodhya.
The BJP has invested significant effort in making this rally a success, with a two-week public outreach campaign planned for West Uttar Pradesh. Bulandshahr, with its diverse population comprising Lodh Rajputs, Muslims, Gujjars, Jats, and Dalits, is considered a stronghold of the BJP, largely due to the efforts of former Chief Minister Kalyan Singh.
Formerly a BJP stronghold, Bulandshahr has consistently elected BJP candidates in the Lok Sabha elections, except for 2009 when a Samajwadi Party candidate secured the seat. In the 2022 assembly elections, all seven assembly seats in Bulandshahr were won by the BJP. The region in western Uttar Pradesh, where the rally is taking place, witnessed the BJP winning eight out of the fourteen Lok Sabha seats in 2019. The party is now aiming to reclaim seats lost to the Samajwadi Party-Bahujan Samaj Party (SP-BSP) alliance in the previous elections.
Party leaders express optimism that the Prime Minister’s rally will bolster the BJP’s campaign in the region. The opposition, including the Samajwadi Party and the Congress, is also focusing on West Uttar Pradesh, attempting to garner support from Muslims, Jats, and Dalits. The Congress organized the U.P.
