PM Modi visits: Seeks blessings at Veerabhadra temple in Andhra Pradesh

Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Veerabhadra Temple in Andhra Pradesh, marking a significant event just six days before the pran pratishtha ceremony at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The Veerabhadra Temple, steeped in Ramayana lore, holds great historical and cultural significance. During his visit, PM Modi participated in prayers at the temple and listened to verses from the Ranganatha Ramayan, an epic rendition in Telugu.

Veerabhadra Temple

The Veerabhadra Temple is a sacred site associated with the Ramayana narrative, believed to be where the bird Jatayu fell, wounded by Ravana during the abduction of Goddess Sita. It is said that Lord Rama granted Moksha to Jatayu upon learning of Sita’s abduction at this very spot.

As part of his two-day tour of South India, PM Modi reached Andhra Pradesh, seeking prayers at the Veerabhadra Temple and later engaging in the verses of Ranganatha Ramayana in Telugu. Following his visit to Andhra Pradesh, PM Modi is scheduled to visit Kerala.

PM Modi shared his experience on social media, mentioning his focus on the verses of Ranganatha Ramayana in Telugu during the visit. A video circulated by news agency ANI captured PM Modi dressed in traditional attire, performing the “aarti” of the deity and listening to the sacred verses at the temple. In another video, PM Modi was seen singing the ‘Shri Ram Jai Ram’ bhajan.

The Lepakshi Temple is closely tied to the Ramayana, with the belief that Jatayu fell in the vicinity after being fatally wounded by Ravan. Lord Ram, moved by the bird’s condition, uttered the words “Le Pakshi,” meaning “Rise, bird” in Telugu, revealing that Sita was taken south by Ravan. Lord Ram granted Moksha to Jatayu.

PM Modi’s -day visit to Andhra Pradesh and Kerala

As part of his visit to South India, PM Modi is set to hold a roadshow in Kochi, Kerala, and will perform pooja and darshan at the Guruvayur Temple on January 17. In Kochi, PM Modi will inaugurate three major infrastructure projects worth over Rs 4,000 crore, including the New Dry Dock at Cochin Shipyard Limited, the International Ship Repair Facility of CSL, and the LPG Import Terminal of Indian Oil Corporation Limited at Puthuvypeen, Kochi.
