CAG Full Form : is Comptroller and Auditor General of India. The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) is the supreme auditor of the Government of India. It has constitutional status as a part of the Parliament of India. Its jurisdiction extends to Union (Central) Government, State Governments, Union Territories, and Local Governments. The CAG is appointed by the President of India under Articles 148 to 151 of the Constitution (as amended by 73rd Amendment).
The CAG is not an officer on a whole-time basis and holds any other office either under Union or State Governments or any local authority or holds any remunerative employment for profit. The person is not eligible for appointment as the CAG if they have held any office under Central or State Government.

In terms of eligibility for becoming a member of CAG, the candidate must have worked for 20 years at the level of Joint Secretary. Before the person can apply for the post, they should have an MSc in Financial Management degree. The person also needs to have sound knowledge of the Indian Accounting Standards. There is a mandatory age limit of 62 years. The candidate must also have a Master’s degree in Commerce/M.Com. (with first-class). There is also the possibility of becoming a part of CAG as a chairman, and the person can be eligible to become a part of CAG after an interview and scrutiny.
