Netflix’s ‘Department Q’ Under Production? Here’s What We Know

Department Q is an upcoming Netflix series, with Scott Frank as its showrunner. This eight-part television series will be an adaptation of Nordic noir crime novels by Danish author Jussi Adler-Olsen. Interestingly, the series adaptation for the title has been in development for the last ten years. Moreover, it was revealed in 2020 that Left Bank Pictures, owned by Sony, would be the producer of Department Q.

The series creator, Scott Frank, has previously worked on two Netflix originals, Godless and The Queen’s Gambit.

The Department Q series is a gripping adaptation of Jussi Adler-Olsen’s noir-thriller novels, with the first book, “The Keeper of Lost Causes,” serving as the inspiration for its inaugural season.

At the heart of the crime series lies Carl Morck, a former detective based in Edinburgh. His life takes a dramatic turn when a tragic accident leaves his partner paralyzed. Upon returning to duty, Carl finds himself tasked with overseeing Department Q, a specialized unit focused on cold cases. As he delves into the mysteries of unsolved crimes, Carl is joined by a team of exceptional detectives, each bringing their unique skills to the table.

Viewers can expect to see some of the famous faces in the Department Qstar cast, along with some new actors. The series features Matthew Goode as Carl Morck. Other stars are Chloe Pirrie, Alexej Manvelov, Leah Byrne, Kelly Macdonald, Mark Bonnar, Jamie Sives, Shirley Henderson, and Kate Dickie.
