PM Modi Reveals Sudha Murty’s Nomination to Rajya Sabha

Prime Minister Modi expressed his excitement and best wishes for Sudha Murty’s successful term in parliament on the platform now known as X, formerly Twitter.
Sudha Murty, an Indian author, philanthropist, and former chair of the Infosys Foundation, has actively participated in the Gate Foundation’s public health programs.
Harvard University houses the Sudha Murty Classical Library of India, a testament to her contributions. Recognized with India’s fourth-highest civilian honor, the Padma Shri, in 2006, she later received the highest civilian honor, the Padma Bhushan, in 2023.
As the spouse of Infosys co-founder Narayan Murty and the mother of two children, Rohan and Akshata, Sudha Murty is celebrated for her literary work, particularly the novel “Dollar Bahu,” originally written in Kannada and later translated into English.
Her notable achievements include being the first female engineer at TATA Engineering and Locomotive Company (TELCO). Sudha Murty’s novels, both in Kannada and English, as well as her social work, have garnered widespread recognition.
Beyond her literary accomplishments, Sudha Murty’s impact extends to the founding of the Infosys Foundation, contributing to various charitable endeavors. Akshata Murty, Sudha Murty’s daughter, is the wife of UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
