Reports indicate that the National Investigation Bengaluru Café Agency (NIA) has assumed control of the investigation into the recent explosion at Rameshwaram Café in Brookfield, East Bengaluru.
The incident, which occurred on March 1, resulted in the injury of at least nine individuals. Media sources, citing unnamed officials, have identified a man wearing a cap, mask, and glasses as the main suspect. This individual is currently at large.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of Karnataka mentioned on Sunday that his administration would consider handing over the Rameshwaram Café blast case to the NIA if deemed necessary. Bengaluru Café Alongside the Karnataka Police, the investigation is exploring potential angles such as business rivalry and whether the explosion was intended to create fear in Bengaluru ahead of upcoming elections.
Home Minister Dr. G Parameswara stated that the incident might be an attempt to deter investors or for undisclosed reasons. He suggested that jealous business rivals could be involved, emphasizing it as one of the perspectives under consideration. Parameswara also dismissed any connection between the Rameshwaram Café blast and a previous pressure cooker explosion in Mangalore on November 19, 2022, despite similarities in bomb configurations.
According to police reports, the suspect was captured on CCTV entering the café, where he proceeded to eat idli while carrying a bag. The suspect was seen using his cellphone during the meal, prompting investigators to identify the phone number and narrow down the list of cell phones present in the eatery at the time of the explosion. Over 500 phone numbers in use in the area during that period are currently under scrutiny.

In a related development, police visited Parappana Bengaluru Café jail to verify the identities of individuals who might have visited bomb-related suspects held there in various cases. Additionally, the police claim to have obtained pictures of the suspect boarding a bus during an associated incident.
