As per Nitin Gadkari’s legal representative, the controversial video was allegedly intended to create discord within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Union minister Nitin Gadkari has sent legal notices to Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge and general secretary Jairam Ramesh, accusing them of sharing defamatory material about him on the party’s official social media account.

According to Balendu Shekhar, Gadkari’s attorney, the BJP leader was surprised to discover a 19-second video clip taken out of context from his interview with a news portal. The attorney asserted that the video distorted the significance and background of Gadkari’s statements.
The legal notices claim that Gadkari’s interview was manipulated and distorted to spread confusion, sensationalism, and ill-will. His attorney alleges that Congress leaders intentionally engaged in a dark deed with the aim of defaming Nitin Gadkari. The notice contends that the specific use of Hindi captions was purposeful in misrepresenting the content.
The Congress party posted the video on their official platform with the caption “Aj gaaon, mazdoor aur kisaan dukhii hain” (Today, villages, laborers, and farmers are unhappy), quoting Gadkari discussing the challenges faced by villages in terms of infrastructure and amenities provided by the Modi government.
Nitin Gadkari’s lawyer accuses Kharge and Ramesh, prominent figures in Congress, of being aware of the context of Gadkari’s remarks and deliberately attempting to defame him. The attorney expresses shock over the intentional removal of context from the interview and accuses the Congress leaders of trying to create disorientation, sensationalism, and discredit Gadkari in the eyes of the public.

The legal notice demands the removal of the video from the platform and a written apology within three days. Gadkari asserts that the video’s content, lacking context and featuring a misleading Hindi caption, is scandalous, wholly untrue, shockingly inaccurate, an afterthought, and an intentional attempt to insult and denigrate him.
