2 min readAbhay Chautala, despite facing a threat to his life, accused the Haryana government of neglecting to provide security for Nafe Singh Rathee, the president of the Indian National Lok Dal’s Haryana unit. Rathee, who had been informed earlier about a threat to his life, was assassinated near Delhi by unidentified assailants. The incident resulted in the deaths of Rathee and a party worker named Jai Kishan.

Abhay Chautala visited the hospital in Bahadurgarh where the bodies were kept and demanded the resignation of home minister Anil Vij and chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar. He alleged that the Haryana government failed to ensure the security of Nafe Singh Rathee despite the known threat. Chautala called for a CBI investigation into the incident and highlighted that he had previously written to the state home minister and senior police requesting security due to threats.
According to Chautala, Rathee had informed him six months prior about a threat to his life conveyed by certain police officers. Chautala had also informed SP Jhajjar about the threat. Chautala emphasized that the unfortunate circumstances leading to Rathee’s death could have been prevented if adequate security had been provided. Additionally, three private gunmen hired by Rathee for security were also injured during the attack.
Nafe Singh Rathee, a two-time MLA, faced a barrage of bullets when attackers in a car targeted his SUV in Bahadurgarh town. Rathee suffered severe blood loss and injuries to his neck, stomach, spine, and thighs, according to hospital doctors.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar expressed shock at the incident and vowed that no guilty party would go free. Abhay Chautala He instructed the police to take stringent measures and apprehend the suspects promptly. The CIA and STF teams were investigating the incident, with SP Arpit Jain stating that they are exploring every possibility to bring the accused into custody soon.
