Farmers march: ask the Supreme Court to consider their petition.
Thousands of farmers continue their protest near the Khanauri and Shambhu border, standing firm on their demands for higher crop prices. Leader Sarwan Singh Pandher stated that the protest will persist at the interstate border points until February 29, when the next course of action will be decided.
A recent Delhi Chalo march faced opposition from security forces, leading to its dispersal 200 kilometers north of the capital. Following a fatal encounter between a farmer and security personnel, the Samyukt Kisan Morcha joined the protest.

Updates on the farmer’s protest include a candle march announced by Pandher on February 24, seminars on farmer-related issues on February 25, and the burning of statues of the World Trade Organization and the Center on February 26. In the following two days, there will be multiple meetings of SKM (Non-Political) and KMM.
In an attempt to strengthen their stance, farmers burned statues of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other government officials. Tractors and trolleys at the site were adorned with black flags.
The demand to declare the deceased farmer Shubhkaran Singh a martyr and provide financial support and a job to his family was reiterated by farmer leaders. The cremation has been postponed until the Punjab government files a case against those believed to be at fault.
A Supreme Court petition has been filed, urging the Indian government to address the justifiable requests of nonviolent protesting farmers. The Sikh Chamber of Commerce called for an end to violence against protestors and a response to the farmer’s demands based on the Swaminathan committee recommendations.
The Haryana Police announced the rescinding of National Security Act provisions against certain farmer leaders. Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher confirmed the death of Darshan Singh, 2, due to a heart attack during the Delhi Chalo agitation.

Rashtriya Lok Dal chief Jayant Chaudhary urged patience among farmers demanding a minimum support price, assuring them that a solution would be found. He expressed regret over the young farmer’s death and appealed to both sides for restraint at the Khanauri border between Punjab and Haryana.
