Former J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik’s Residence Raided by CBI
2 min readSatya Pal Malik In connection with a hydel project case involving suspected corruption in the awarding of a contract for the Kiru Hydro Electric Power Project in Jammu and Kashmir, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has conducted raids at the residence of former J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik.
The CBI is scrutinizing more than thirty locations, including properties associated with Malik, as part of its investigation into alleged corruption in the Rs 2,200 crore civil works awarding process for the hydroelectric project.

During the ongoing probe, the federal agency previously searched eight locations in Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir, recovering digital gadgets, PCs, property records, incriminating documents, and over Rs 21 lakh in cash. The case originated from a referral by the Satya Pal Malik against the then-chairman, MD, directors, and unidentified parties of private company CVPPPL. The allegations include the non-adherence to e-tendering guidelines in the awarding of civil works for the Kiru hydroelectric project.
The FIR reveals discrepancies in the tendering process, with the decision to re-tender through e-tendering not implemented despite being decided at the 47th board meeting of CVPPPL. Eventually, Patel Engineering Ltd was awarded the tender, as per the FIR.
In a related development, a video posted by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi captured his recent meeting with Satya Pal Malik. The conversation covered various topics, including the Pulwama attack and the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
Rahul Gandhi raised questions about potential involvement of the Enforcement Directorate and the CBI, hinting at a possible escalation. The discussion with Malik also touched on his political career, his views on Jammu and Kashmir, and the need to restore the statehood promptly, emphasizing that the conversion into a Union Territory has been more impactful than the repeal of Article 370.
