Modi Criticizes Opposition: ‘Made You PM, Never Thought’ Amidst ‘Delhi Chalo’ Demonstration”

Delhi Chalo At the Shambhu border, government estimates indicate the presence of 14,000 farmers and over 1200 tractors amid ongoing protests. Sarwan Singh Pandher, a prominent farmer, urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi not to oppress the protesting farmers who are advocating for Minimum Support Price (MSP).

Pandher reminded Modi that farmers played a crucial role in his election and requested the government to avoid persecution. He highlighted the deployment of paramilitary forces in Haryana villages to thwart the demonstrators’ march.

Expressing concern, Pandher emphasized that the government should uphold the Constitution and allow peaceful travel to Delhi. He pledged to maintain a non-violent protest and called on the Prime Minister to address their demands. Pandher mentioned the considerable financial aspect, stating that a sum of Rs 1.5–2 lakh crore is not overly significant, and obstacles should be removed for the farmers to proceed to Delhi.

Despite the central government’s five-year proposal, farmers, led by Pandher, announced the resumption of their “Delhi Chalo” demonstration from the Punjab-Haryana Shambhu border. The decision came after rejecting the government’s offer for agencies to purchase cotton, maize, and pulses at MSP.

The farmers, who have faced tear gas shells in Haryana, are prepared to breach barricades. They have adapted bulldozers to counter police pellet guns, equipped themselves with gas masks against tear gas, and faced a heavily armed police force using shipping containers, trucks, buses, barricades, iron barbed wires, nails, and concrete reinforcements.

Approximately 8,000 soldiers are stationed at Delhi Chalo borders with Tikri, Singhu, and Ghazipur. The situation remains tense as the farmers persist in their demands, urging the Prime Minister to intervene and address their grievances.
