2 min readAs part of the BJP’s Gaon Chalo Abhiyan, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma conducted a visit to the Raja Pukhuri Shyam village in Assam on Wednesday. During his visit, the Chief Minister examined a house constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) at No.1 Raja Pukhuri Shyam Gaon in Golaghat.
He also stayed overnight at Bhaskar Shyam Gohain’s residence.
Addressing the media, the Chief Minister highlighted the directive from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to understand and address the challenges faced by villagers. In order to comprehend the issues firsthand, PM Modi instructed officials to spend a day in the villages, engaging with the residents. This initiative aims to gather insights and work towards finding solutions once PM Modi’s administration is reelected.

As part of the “Gaon Chalo” Abhiyan, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal visited the Dirai Tea estate on Tuesday in Tingkhong, Dibrugarh district of Assam. Himanta Biswa Sarma The union minister spent the night in a house on the Maaj line of the estate and interacted with local beneficiaries of various government programs, including the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin and Ujjwala Yojana. Sonowal also engaged with chowkidars, sardars, senior citizens, and other segments of society.
Speaking at the event, Sonowal commended the BJP’s initiative to reach every citizen in India’s villages. He emphasized the significant progress India has witnessed under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership and the successful implementation of various welfare programs benefiting both rural and urban residents. Sonowal, along with the villagers, organized a clean-up campaign in the vicinity of the Durga temple.
During his stay at the Maaj Line of the Dirai Tea Estate, Sonowal shared dinner with the villagers, fostering a sense of community and connection. The Gaon Chalo Abhiyan, a comprehensive outreach program by the BJP for rural villages, focuses on discussing development initiatives and evaluating the effectiveness of central welfare schemes.
Bhabesh Kalita, Himanta Biswa Sarma the state president of the BJP, emphasized that the campaign’s primary objective is to understand the people of the state, gain insights into their lives, and increase the party’s vote share in the upcoming Lok Sabha presidential elections by at least 10%.
Kalita, who spent Tuesday night at Mudoi Gaon on the river island of Majuli, highlighted the widespread development and infrastructure improvements during the BJP’s tenure. Villagers expressed their satisfaction with the BJP government, citing numerous welfare programs that have benefited them.
