Vayu, Gagan, Tarang Shakti: Indian Air Force to Conduct Three War Games on February 17

Named Vayu Shakti, Gagan Shakti, and Tarang Shakti, these exercises aim to showcase the growing strategic reach, firepower, and collaborative capabilities of the three defense forces.

Vayu Shakti, the inaugural exercise, will unfold at Pokhran in the Thar Desert, featuring a mega-fire show with simultaneous strikes from multiple aircraft. This event will highlight the Indian Air Force’s prowess, featuring aircraft such as Rafale, Sukhoi-30MKI, LCA Tejas, Mirage 2000, and MiG-29, with the Indian Navy and Army also participating.
Following this, Gagan Shakti, the second exercise, promises to be an enormous effort involving the entire air fleet. This drill, occurring every five years, emphasizes coordination among different military branches and showcases new and established assets like the Rafale fighter aircraft and S-400 air defense systems. The exercise will span from Bhuj to Arunachal Pradesh, Ladakh to the Indian Ocean region, and is slated for April.
Tarang Shakti, the third and final exercise, stands out as the first-ever international drill on Indian soil. Friendly air forces from nations such as the US, Germany, France, and Australia will participate. The exercise, hosted in Jodhpur in August, underscores India’s commitment to global military cooperation.
Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari and Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan are jointly leading efforts to enhance military cooperation and coordination. The exercises aim to strengthen integration across diverse military assets, including transport planes, drones, fighters, helicopters, and long-range air defense systems like the Sudarshan.
