"Wife Seeks Divorce as Husband Changes Honeymoon Destination from Goa to Ayodhya"

A woman from Madhya Pradesh has initiated divorce proceedings against her husband, Goa just five months into their marriage. The catalyst for this legal action stems from the husband’s alleged betrayal of their honeymoon plans. Originally set for Goa, the husband, without prior discussion, redirected the destination to Ayodhya and Varanasi, citing his mother’s wish to visit Ayodhya before the dedication of Ram Mandir.

The case was brought before the Bhopal family court on January 19, approximately 10 days after the couple’s return from their altered vacation. In her divorce petition, the wife highlighted her husband’s lucrative position in the IT industry and stressed that, being a working woman herself, they had initially planned an overseas honeymoon without reservations due to their financial stability.

Despite their affluence, the husband insisted on a domestic destination to attend to his parents’ needs. The couple had originally planned a romantic getaway to Goa or southern India, but the husband clandestinely booked tickets to Ayodhya and Varanasi. The wife, unaware until a day before their departure, went along with the revised plan, assuming it was a family obligation.

Upon their return from the pilgrimage sites, marital discord ensued, prompting the wife to swiftly file for divorce. She expressed her frustration, claiming her husband prioritized his extended family over her, breaching her trust from the outset of their marriage. She argued that, as the primary earner, he marginalized her role within the family.

The husband, an IT specialist with a focus on information technology engineering, countered by suggesting the wife was exaggerating the situation. The couple is now seeking therapy at the Bhopal Family Court to address their differences.

The husband justified the change in plans by explaining his parents’ desire to visit a religious site, diverting from the initially agreed-upon romantic honeymoon. The wife contended that her husband’s actions demonstrated a lack of consideration for her feelings and accused him of breaking her trust.

The honeymoon, originally planned for the southern Indian states and Goa, underwent a last-minute alteration, leading to a dispute and, subsequently, the wife’s decision to seek a divorce. She asserted that her husband’s prioritization of his family over her was a breach of the foundations of their marriage.
