Despite facing despair and depression following a disappointing result in his CA exam, Anubhav refused to yield easily. While preparing for the UPSC exam, he envisioned a future in successful entrepreneurship. The universe seemed to have different plans for him, steering him towards a path he hadn’t anticipated.
Unfazed by the setbacks, Anubhav, known for his determination, decided to part ways with UPSC and embraced the role of the mastermind behind Chai Sutta Bar (CSB), alongside his friend-turned-business partner.
Their journey began in 2016 with an initial investment of three lakh rupees (approximately $31,000), earned from a previous business. Starting with a modest tea stand in Indore, the duo, the sole workforce at the time, worked tirelessly to offer delightful tea to the public. Today, CSB boasts a workforce of around 1,500 employees spread across India.
What Is Special About Chai Sutta Bar?
Initially skeptical due to their traditional upbringing, Anubhav’s parents eventually embraced CSB’s success and understood the sound business strategy behind it.
What sets Chai Sutta Bar apart is evident from its name — it’s not your typical tea shop. The unique bar-like setup for serving chai and the use of traditional clay cups (kulhad) add authenticity and charm to their outlets, creating a space for profound conversations.
CSB’s corporate logo, visually appealing and delicious in design, also contributes to its distinct identity. Starting with three shops in Indore, CSB has expanded to over 450 locations in 195 cities across India, with additional branches in Nepal and the UAE.
Anubhav Dubey, in an interview with Curly Tales, shared the heartwarming story of their first employee, a young man without a family, highlighting the transformative impact of employment at CSB. According to Anubhav, CSB prioritizes employment opportunities for those from low-income backgrounds, individuals with disabilities, and orphans.
