“President Macron Announces Ambitious Goal: 30,000 Indian Students to Study in France by 2030”

Emmanuel Macron has unveiled ambitious plans to enhance French language education across the nation, introducing new facilities with an international curriculum and a network of French alliances. A month after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Paris as the chief guest of France’s National Day last year, President Macron declared on Friday that France aims to welcome 30,000 Indian students ahead of India’s 75th Republic Day celebrations.

Macron outlined the establishment of language learning facilities, featuring an international curriculum and French alliances nationwide. He emphasized that France is committed to assisting Indian students in obtaining visas for their education in the country. Macron expressed his determination to achieve the target of hosting 30,000 Indian students in France by 2030.

Highlighting the pursuit of excellence, Macron introduced the “French for All, French for a Better Future” initiative, creating new opportunities for students to learn French in public schools. The expansion of the Alliances Françaises network includes the addition of language learning facilities. International courses are being developed to facilitate students who have studied in France to enroll in French universities with streamlined visa application processes.

Macron cited university rankings, with the QS ranking listing 35 French universities and the Times Higher Education ranking approximately 15. He emphasized the strong collaboration between France and India, both presently and in the future, urging cooperation, trust, and friendship to achieve their goals.

In response to the announcement, the French embassy in India implemented measures in September 2023, including the introduction of a five-year Schengen visa for short stays to attract more Indian students. These initiatives fall under the people-to-people ties category, one of the three pillars of the strategic partnership between France and India.

As the main guest for India’s 75th Republic Day celebration, President Macron conveyed his best wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the people of India in a separate post.
