Lighting Of Diyas And Fireworks: Celebrating 'Pran Pratishtha' At Ram Temple In India

On Monday, a multitude of devotees of Ram Lalla gathered to celebrate the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, marking a significant event during the Diwali festivities across India. The ancient city of Ayodhya was aglow with the radiance of clay lamps (diyas) and adorned by a spectacular display of fireworks, commemorating the consecration of Ram Lalla and other Vedic festivities.

The ‘Pran Pratishtha’ festival at the Ram Temple concluded with a mesmerizing display as thousands of diyas illuminated Ayodhya’s Saryu Ghat. The festivities began at Ayodhya’s renowned Hanuman Garhi shrine, where numerous devotees lit clay lamps to kick off the grand ‘Pran Pratishtha’ celebrations at the Ram Temple.

Revised Worship Times at the Temple

During this festival, both the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and the Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar were adorned with clay lights. Acharya Satyendra Das, the chief priest of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, announced that following the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony, the public would be granted the opportunity to witness Shri Ram Lalla on Tuesday.

Brightly Colored Apparel for Ram Lalla

The worship schedule at the Ram Temple has been revised, with devotees now allowed to pray for Ram Lalla’s blessings from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM. There is a one-hour closure between 1:00 and 3:00 in the afternoon. According to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Trust, offerings of milk and fruit will be made to Ram Lalla every hour. The temple is open to the public from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

Ram Lalla’s attire is now a source of vibrant spectacle, with a unique color chosen for each day of the week. Crafted by a group of 10-15 lakh artisans from the Heritage & Handloom Revival Charitable Trust in Pune, these outfits bring a colorful charm to the temple.

Pran Pratishtha Rituals Conducted by the Head of State

On January 23, after the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony concludes, the temple will be closed for the day for cleansing, worship, and decoration. The consecration ritual, including mantras, will be conducted from 3:30 to 4:00 PM, followed by the ‘Mangala Aarti.’ The ‘Shringar Aarti’ will conclude around 5:00 PM. Daily darshan is available from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with a break in between. The evening service, ‘Sandhya Aarti,’ will begin at 7:00 PM and continue until 10:00 PM.

The auspicious ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony, unveiling the idol of Ram Lalla at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, was conducted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday. With an air of intense devotion, Prime Minister Modi presided over the rituals, including the ‘aarti’ rite, ‘parikrama,’ and ‘dandvat pranam.’

Notable attendees included RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, all fervently chanting “Jai Sri Ram.” Over 8,000 attendees, representing diverse faiths and traditions, were present. Following the event, Prime Minister Modi held a meeting with the dedicated contributors to the temple’s construction.
