2 min readTwo individuals hailing from the Gonda district Ram temple, namely Tahar Singh and Om Prakash Mishra, have been apprehended by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) for their alleged involvement in sending threatening letters.
The letters targeted the Ayodhya Ram Temple, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and STF ADG Amitabh Yash. The STF has revealed that Devendra Tewari, another individual implicated in the case, reportedly directed Singh and Mishra to carry out these activities for political gains.

Despite facing multiple accusations in Lucknow, Tewari has managed to evade consequences so far, according to an STF official.
The official assures that Tewari will be captured soon, as he is believed to be the mastermind behind the entire scheme. Tewari,Ram temple who has purportedly received threats on his life in the past, was reportedly provided with a pistol for protection.
According to an official statement from the STF, the investigation began on December 27, 2018, following information from the DGP headquarters regarding threatening emails sent under aliases linked to the ISI terrorist organization.
The STF initiated the investigation, uncovering that the threatening messages were sent through two email accounts, namely a[email protected] and [email protected], both established by Tahar Singh and Om Prakash Mishra. Subsequently, both individuals were taken into custody.
During the interrogation of Singh and Mishra, Devendra Tewari, a resident of Lucknow’s Banthra area, was identified as the mastermind behind the threatening posts.
Tewari, facing various charges in Lucknow police stations, allegedly instructed the detained individuals to make threats on social media. Tewari is associated with the Indian Institute of Paramedical Sciences and has a residence in the Alambagh neighborhood.
As per the STF statement,Ram temple Tewari directed Tahar Singh to create the fake email accounts and provided Om Prakash Mishra with the passwords via WhatsApp. The two phones used to send the threats were reportedly purchased from a shop in Naka Hindola, Lucknow.

Tewari, using his Twitter account, spread the threats on November 19 and December 27. After sending the emails, Tewari allegedly destroyed the phones by setting them on fire, with the WiFi used traced back to Tewari’s office.
The charges filed against the accused individuals include Sections 153-A, 506, and 507 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), addressing hate propagation Ram temple among various groups and criminal intimidation. Additionally, deception (Section 420) and forgery (Section 471) are addressed, along with criminal conspiracy (Section 201) and the tampering of evidence (Section 120-B).
