The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a triumphant return to power in Rajasthan, securing 115 seats out of the 199 Assembly constituencies in the recent elections. In contrast, the Congress managed to win 68 seats. The pivotal question now centers on the BJP’s selection for the next Chief Minister, as no clear candidate has emerged from the party ranks.
Historically, Vasundhara Raje, the former Chief Minister of Rajasthan, has been a formidable contender from the state. Surprisingly, she wasn’t considered the front-runner for the Chief Ministerial position in the 2023 Rajasthan state elections.
There are speculations suggesting that Baba Balak Nath, often regarded as the counterpart to Yogi Adityanath in Uttar Pradesh, could be the next Chief Minister of Rajasthan. A report suggests his potential candidacy for the position.

In the Tijara Assembly constituency, where the majority of the population is Muslim, the BJP has chosen Baba Balak Nath, the saffron-clad spiritual leader, as its candidate against Imran Khan of the Congress. Baba Balak Nath, born in Alwar, secured a significant victory in Tijara.
Baba Balak Nath, also known as “Rajasthan ka Yogi,” is the eighth mahant of Baba Mast Nath Math, the national headquarters of the Nath Yogi’s Sect. Devoted to the sect from the age of six, he serves as the chancellor of Baba Math Nath University in Rohtak, Haryana. Baba Balak Nath was declared the successor to Mat Nath Dera in 2016, with the presence of prominent figures like yoga guru Baba Ramdev and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at the ceremony.
Addressing the perceived connection with Yogi Adityanath, Baba Balak Nath referred to him as an elder brother. Adityanath expressed confidence in Baba Balak Nath’s ability to transform Tijara and elevate its prosperity. The close relationship and matching saffron attire have contributed to the creation of a distinct image for Baba Balak Nath.

Apart from Baba Balaknath, other potential candidates for the Chief Minister’s post include Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Rajasthan BJP Chief Satish Poonia. The success of the BJP’s election campaign in Rajasthan was significantly influenced by key party figures, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, making multiple trips to the state for rallies. Despite the competition, Vasundhara Raje remains optimistic about leading the Arid State for the third term, having secured victory in the Jhalrapatan constituency in the recent assembly elections. However, formidable opposition candidates pose a challenge to her aspirations, with contenders like Baba Balaknath, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and Satish Poonia vying for the coveted position.
