Despite Congress losing in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, it managed to defeat the Bharat Rashtra Samiti in Telangana, resulting in a 3-1 scorecard in favor of the BJP in the current round of Assembly elections, seen as a prelude to the upcoming polls.

Aside from Telangana, Congress trails significantly below the halfway mark in the three northern states.
