PM Modi to meet chief ministers of six states today, review Covid-19 situation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on the chair Friday virtual meeting with the main ministers of six states in which Coronavirus (Covid-19) is increasing, officials who are familiar with the development earlier this week. These countries – Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Odisha, and Maharashtra – have seen increases marked in Covid-19 cases in several districts in the past.
The interaction of the prime minister with the sixth major minister of the country will approach the heel of virtual meetings similar to the main ministers of the Northeast region on Tuesday. There, Prime Minister Modi has expressed concern for the entry of tourists without a guise at the station and the market, called for greater emphasis on the micro-detention zone.
“The number of Covid-19 cases increased,” said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, overcoming the main ministers who attended the meeting, “we need to take strict action to curb situations at the micro level.”
Prime Minister Modi also said that officials need to supervise various Covid-19 variants which are currently being studied by experts. “We need to oversee each Covid-19 variant. Prevention and timely care is very important in a dynamic situation,” he said.
The meeting of the Prime Minister on Friday is expected to focus on the Covid-19 situation as a whole and review the progress of vaccination in six states – Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Odisha, and Maharashtra. A total of 73.4% of new Covid-19 cases in India have been reported from these countries, except Kerala, said the central government earlier this week. As many as 55 districts across the country reported the covid-19 test level of more than 10% in the week ended July 13.
Of the six regions, Odisha and Tamil Nadu are clearly displayed in the list of countries that have complained of acute vaccine. In fact, Odisha stopped the inoculation drive against Covid-19 because of the unavailability of sufficient doses earlier this week. “The covishield allocation for July is 2.5 million doses while we need at least 2.83 million doses for the second dose of this month,” said Health Secretary Odisha PK Mohapatra, added that the vaccination drive would only begin after the next Covishield dose consignment arrived.
Tamil Nadu also reported facing the lack of vaccine that was unrelenting last week. On Saturday, 18 districts do not have the remaining vaccines. On Sunday night, the dose of five lakh covishield was sent, patching the situation for a while.
