When a loved one or someone we know gets diagnosed with cancer, there are a lot of questions that come to our minds. There are certain ideas that spread around and to be honest, a lot of them are made-up and mostly wrong. Now, this information can be misleading to many and can cause needless worry to those living a  normal life.

The best cancer doctor in Lahore says that a lot of people hesitate to get treatment when they start to believe in myths. For patients already suffering from cancer, information on the internet is not a good sight. Instead of getting some hope and positive affirmations, they end up getting hopeless and most of them leave the path of recovery pretty soon.

Well, there is a big list of myths and misconceptions that are still spreading and a whole lot of unproven stories. For better understanding, let’s address the myths and separate them from what is factual and what is not.

Myth 1: Some foods can fight cancer

There are a lot of superfoods that are considered to be working great against cancers. Some of the common ones are known as broccoli, blueberries, garlic, green tea, and beetroot. These foods definitely work great in increasing your health. But to say and claim that these foods can help in fighting cancer is completely wrong.

These superfoods can help a lot during the time when a person is diagnosed with cancer. During the time of treatment, these foods are fed in order to provide the treatment more effectively. The reason behind this is the anti-oxidant property of the foods. These help in removing the toxins from the body and help a lot in protecting against cancer. But to say that a group of food prevents cancer completely is not believable and is not true.

Myth 2: All cancers are the same

Cancer is basically the name given to a disease in which the unhealthy cells spread in the body at a faster pace. This cell division is uncontrolled and spreads to the surrounding tissues at a faster pace.

There is a big list of cancers present in the world and each cancer is different from each depending on the person they are affecting and the organ that they attack. Even people that have the same type of cancer in similar organs get impacted differently from a similar type of cancer.

So to think that all cancers are the same is a myth. Maybe this is one of the reasons why there is no one cure for all cancers. The treatment for all cancers is different as it impacts the genetic changes differently. Finding the cure for a certain type of cancer often needs a proper team and trained professionals to design it.

Myth 3: Cancer causes a lot of pain

It is very rare to be seen that cancer causes pain to people. The biggest issue here is that a number of cancers show no symptoms. In a lot of cases, the diagnosis is done in the later stages.

The pain that people talk about comes from the treatments and their side effects. The treatments majorly include chemotherapy and radiotherapy. But there is no such thing that this pain persists. This obviously can be managed well with medicines and other pain management techniques.

To debunk this myth, I will suggest you focus on the good examples and ignore the ones that come in the worst category. It obviously is a trial and error process when the treatment of cancer is found. Once the best one is found, then that treatment is taken forward.

Myth 4: Dying your hair causes cancer

This myth is very questionable and strange as there is a lack of research on it. A number of studies performed decades ago made the claim that hair dyes cause cancer. But, it was done at a time when there was still research going on on this topic and there was no surety about the symptoms and the causes.

So, in today’s times, to say that hair dyes cause cancer is completely wrong. In the past, if any chemical was found harming the health, has been removed today from the dyes.

So, this myth is still a strange one, however, there were some issues with the dyes being used in the past, and people still are scared to use dyes these days. But, trust me there is no harm in applying dye to your hair, however, more research has to be performed in order to claim that this myth is completely false.

If you are facing some of the complicated symptoms and signs of cancer make sure to get the biopsy test done. The biopsy test price in Pakistan is quite affordable.

Conclusion

There are a number of myths and misconceptions associated with cancer. But to believe and not to believe is the question. Make sure that you do your research by reading the right articles on google. Inform yourself well and keep educating yourself on this sensitive topic of cancer.
