2 min readThe Meteorological Department of India (IMD) has warned that the southwest monsoon would become more intense, which led heavy rains in the east and center of India in the next seven days.

Here are some states that, according to IMD, will be affected in the coming days:
Maharashtra: The heavy rains hit Maharashtra on Wednesday, and the meteorological department has predicted the rainfall “extremely heavy” until June 15. The Konkan region of the state could be whipped by “isolated and extremely heavy” showers from June 12 to 15. The IMD has issued a ‘red alert’ for Mumbai, and neighboring districts of Thane, Palghar and Raigad, very heavy rainfall warning with extremely strong rainfall in places isolated there.
Kerala and Karnataka: The two southern states, such as Maharashtra, are likely to be “extremely heavy” rain showers, according to IMD. While Kerala will be affected from June 11 to 15, the corresponding dates of Karnataka are from June 12 to 15.
Odisha: It is likely that more than 20 cm of rain, “extremely heavy”, is likely Marhe Odisha on June 11 and 12.
Chhattisgarh and Telangana: According to the department, the activity of the rain is projected in Chhattisgarh and Telangana from June 11 to 13, and on June 12 and 13, respectively.
In addition, the IMD has predicted the storm activity “quite widespread”, ahead of the beginning of the monsoon, in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar in the next two and three days.
