Canadian actor Kenneth Mitchell, renowned for his appearances in the series Star Trek: Discovery and the film Captain Marvel, died at the age of 49.
The actor lost a five-year battle with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) on Saturday. His family confirmed the death on social media.

They shared a statement on Instagram and X stating,
For five and a half years Ken faced a series of awful challenges from ALS. And in truest Ken fashion, he managed to rise above each one with grace and commitment to living a full and joyous life in each moment,
He lived by the principles that each day is a gift and that we never walk alone. His life is a shining example of how full one can be when you live with love, compassion, humour, inclusion, and community,

The official Star Trek website also shared this news. It read,
StarTrek.com is deeply saddened to report the passing of Kenneth Alexander Mitchell, who played the Klingons Kol, Kol-Sha, and Tenavik, as well as Aurellio, on Star Trek: Discovery. In addition, he voiced several voice characters in an episode of Star Trek: Lower Decks. Mitchell passed away at age 49 on February 24, 2024.

The actor has performed in many other titles apart from his Star Trek role. He starred in Marvel’s Captain Marvel, The Recruit, The Green, and Miracle, among other titles. Kenneth Mitchell shared on social media in August 2018 that he was diagnosed with ALS. The actor was using a wheelchair since 2019.
