Netflix announced on Monday that the Money Heist spinoff series Berlin will be returning to the platform for a second season. Pedro Alonso will reprise his role as the iconic character of Berlin. In addition, the new season is expected to have a fresh storyline as it acknowledges the criticism faced by the title in its first installment.
The streaming giant also shared a photo of the cast for season 2. It stated that the entire gang from the first season would return for the second season of Berlin. Netflix stated,

During its premiere week, BERLIN was the most-watched series globally and reached the Top 10 in 91 countries. Since then, it has remained in the Top 10 for 7 consecutive weeks in non-English TV, amassing 348 million hours viewed and 53 million total views,
The series is now ranked at number 9 among the most-watched non-English language series in the history of Netflix.
Álex Pina, the mastermind behind the hit series, heads the production company Vancouver Media. Their latest project for Money Heist Netflix, titled “El Refugio Atómico” (The Fallout Shelter), is currently in the works. Set against the backdrop of an impending third world war, the series follows a group of multimillionaires seeking refuge in a bunker.
Exciting news for fans, as the show is confirmed to be returning. However, there will be a bit of a wait. According to a press release from Netflix, the production schedule indicates that fans will need to exercise patience for the next installment.
The filming of the second season of BERLIN, created by Álex Pina (La casa de papel, Sky Rojo) and Esther Martínez Lobato (La casa de papel, Sky Rojo), will begin in 2025.
It could be possible that, apart from the production team, the star cast also might have prior commitments for 2024. Therefore, we cannot expect to get the second season of Berlin until at least mid-to-late 2025.
Besides, it could extend until 2026.‘Berlin’ focuses on the events of Berlin’s life before he got involved in the robbery of the Royal Mint of Spain. Money Heist ended in 2021 and was counted as Netflix’s most popular international title of all time.
