This call for her candidacy has gained momentum following Sonia Gandhi’s recent announcement that she won’t be running for office due to health and age concerns. Sonia Gandhi has been representing the Raebareli seat since 2004.

In an open letter, Priyanka Gandhi expressed her commitment to serve the people despite not having the direct opportunity after Sonia’s decision. Sonia Gandhi, after opting out of the Lok Sabha elections, was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan without facing any opposition.
She expressed gratitude to the residents of Raebareli for their continued support, acknowledging the longstanding history her family has in the region.
Sonia Gandhi’s decision not to contest the Lok Sabha elections due to health issues came after filing her nomination for the Rajya Sabha in Jaipur on February 14. She highlighted her family’s connection with Raebareli and assured voters of their continued support in the future.
This development marks the end of Sonia Gandhi’s five-term tenure as an MP, representing Raebareli since 2004.
Despite her decision, the Congress party continues to maintain its stronghold in the region, and supporters are now rallying behind Priyanka Gandhi Vadra as a potential candidate for the upcoming general elections.
