Gautam Gambhir, the BJP MP, expressed his desire to focus on cricket by submitting a request to BJP President JP Nadda to relieve him of his political responsibilities.
Despite being a prominent critic of AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, Gambhir did not explicitly state whether he was leaving politics. He acknowledged the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for the opportunity to serve the public.

Gautam Gambhir joined the BJP ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, winning from East Delhi against AAP’s Atishi. As a former cricketer who played a crucial role in India’s victories in the 2007 and 2011 World Cups, Gambhir is now the coach of the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders.
Having played 58 Test matches and scored 4,154 runs with an average of 41.96, and 147 ODIs with 5,238 runs at an average of 39.68, Gambhir is considered one of the nation’s influential cricketers. The upcoming IPL is expected to commence next month.
In the political arena, the Congress-AAP alliance will challenge the BJP in Delhi, with the AAP running for four Congress seats. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, all seven Delhi seats were won by the BJP.
