Reportedly, Kejriwal reiterated the illegality of the summonses but stated his willingness to cooperate with the investigating agency. The court, however, has insisted on his personal appearance. Additionally, on March 16, the chief minister is expected to appear before a city court in response to a complaint filed by the Arvind Kejriwal ED for non-compliance with its summonses.
The Enforcement Directorate had issued the summons as part of a money laundering investigation related to discrepancies in the Delhi excise policy for 2021-22. Kejriwal has consistently rejected the summons, claiming they are politically motivated.
The ED’s interest in Kejriwal pertains to his statements on the creation of the excise policy, pre-finalization meetings, and allegations of bribery. The AAP labeled the seventh summons as illegal, arguing that the ED should await the court’s ruling since the matter is already in court. The ED had filed a case on February 3, a day after Kejriwal ignored the fifth summons.
