On Thursday, several new portals, including the Press Sewa Portal, NaViGate Bharat Portal, and National Register for LCOs, were officially launched as part of a government initiative to enhance the business environment for TV channels and newspaper publishers.
At the launch event, the speaker, Thakur, attributed India’s appeal to investors to the effective governance and economic reforms led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Thakur emphasized the positive indicators of India’s economic development, such as a thriving startup ecosystem and increased foreign and domestic investment.

The primary objective of these newly introduced portals is to streamline business processes, foster transparency, and enhance government communication efficiency. The government aims to make official government videos easily accessible and create a more favorable environment for media entities. The four groundbreaking portals include the Press Sewa Portal, Transparent Empanelment Media Planning and Billing System, NaViGate Bharat Portal, and National Register for LCOs.
The Press Sewa Portal, aligned with the Press and Registration of Periodicals Act, 2023, automates newspaper registration procedures. Notable features include online request filing, real-time tracking, and a dedicated application management module for district magistrates.
The Transparent Empanelment Media Planning and Billing System, designed for the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), offers a comprehensive ERP solution for the media sector. It simplifies media planning processes, incorporating functions like media planning, invoicing, automated empanelment, and a companion mobile app.
The NaViGate Bharat Portal, developed by the Ministry’s New Media Wing, serves as a unified, multilingual platform showcasing videos on government initiatives for development and citizen welfare. It boasts advanced search capabilities, smooth video playback, classification, and user-friendly navigation.

The National Register for LCOs, aimed at organizing the cable industry, centralizes the registration process for local cable operators (LCOs). This initiative promises improved convenience and responsible service for cable operators through an online registration tool. Overall, these portals mark a significant step toward modernizing the media landscape in India.
