On Thursday, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw unveiled a comprehensive annual capacity-building strategy for Indian Railways officials and frontline employees within his ministries. This initiative aims to provide citizen-centric behavioral training, strengthen capacity, and foster holistic development.

The Ministry of Railways’ Annual Capacity Building Plan is designed to enhance service delivery and efficiency by elevating the competencies and knowledge of railway personnel. It emphasizes the development of organizational capabilities through the introduction of new technology, improved customer support, and the promotion of an innovative and ever-improving culture.

Minister Vaishnaw, overseeing IT, communications, electronics, and railways, highlighted substantial investments in these sectors, aligning with the government’s ambitious plans for a developed country known as “Viksit Bharat.”

Service-oriented departments such as Railways, common service centers (CSC), and BSNL were specifically mentioned by Vaishnaw. He emphasized the need for a different mindset in these sectors due to constant interactions with customers and stakeholders, significantly impacting both consumers and the overall network.

As of February 2023, Indian Railways employed over 11.75 lakh people. Ashwini Vaishnaw  The Railway Board collaborated with Railways to develop the annual capacity-building plan, outlining essential tasks, competencies, and requirements for comprehensive development at individual and organizational levels.

Focusing on improving public services, frontline employees from BSNL, railways, post offices, and CSC received training in 2023 before the plan’s official launch. Their testimonials highlighted how capacity-building efforts positively influenced their performance, personal growth, and altered their perspectives on work.

Addressing an assembly of over a thousand workers, Vaishnaw commended their outstanding contributions to Mission Karmayogi. Prior to the plan’s unveiling, frontline employees from various departments shared their experiences, emphasizing how the training enhanced their capabilities and mindset for better public service delivery.
