BJP-Kamal Nath Rumors: Regarding Nakul Nath's comments on his candidacy.

Amid speculations of Kamal Nath’s potential affiliation with the BJP, the Congress issued a significant statement on Tuesday regarding his son Nakul Nath’s candidacy in the Chhindwara stronghold. Jitendra Singh, the general secretary of the Congress party, declared Nakul Nath as a formidable contender during his tour of Madhya Pradesh, purportedly gauging the sentiments of MLAs. Singh suggested that Nakul Nath might run as the party’s nominee, emphasizing his excellence as a candidate from Chhindwara.

In response to reports about Kamal Nath quitting the Congress, Singh dismissed them as rumors spread by the BJP. He stated, “Nothing compares to this. The BJP has been propagating these rumors all along.” Singh emphasized Kamal Nath’s leadership within the Congress and assured his presence at the upcoming meeting regarding the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.

The current Chhindwara MP is Nakul Nath, the lone Madhya Pradesh Congress MP, who unilaterally announced his candidacy for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He addressed rumors about Kamal Nath or himself running for office, clarifying, “I would like to get it known that Kamal Nath is not going to run for office; I am going to.”

Following Nakul Nath’s announcement, there were speculations about a divide between his family and the Congress leadership, with rumors suggesting talks with the BJP. Kamal Nath has neither confirmed nor denied these rumors, but his allies maintain that he is committed to staying in the Congress.

The Congress has been making efforts to appease the father-son duo, highlighting Kamal Nath’s historical association as the “third son of India Gandhi” and emphasizing his closeness to the Nehru-Gandhi family. In the midst of these rumors, Jitendra Singh is expected to meet with 66 Congress MLAs in Madhya Pradesh to assess their attitudes and the current state of affairs.

Reports suggest that Kamal Nath is displeased about not being selected for the Rajya Sabha, particularly after a loyalist of Digvijaya Singh from Madhya Pradesh secured the nomination. The Kamal Nath family attributes this to the party’s poor performance in the Madhya Pradesh assembly elections and feels insulted by the leadership, according to associates of Kamal Nath who recently spoke to the press.
