West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s meeting with senior AAP leaders gains significance against the backdrop of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and the formation of an opposition coalition.
An official source revealed on Thursday that Mamata Banerjee is likely to visit Punjab on February 21, where she will meet with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and newly-elected Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Additionally, she is expected to offer prayers at the Golden Temple in Amritsar.

The timing of Banerjee’s visit is noteworthy, coinciding with the farmers’ demand for a minimum support price for their produce. Banerjee has previously expressed her support for the farmers and strongly condemned the attack on them as they marched towards New Delhi. Her meeting with AAP leaders holds significance in the context of the opposition coalition and the ongoing seat-sharing disagreements between AAP, TMC, and Congress.
Banerjee’s vocal criticism of the BJP’s actions against protesting farmers reflects her commitment to advocating for farmers’ rights. She questioned the nation’s progress when basic rights of farmers were met with tear gas shells at the Shambhu border between Haryana and Punjab.
