Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed gratitude for the enduring friendship between India and the United Arab Emirates during a significant gathering of the Indian diaspora at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Addressing the enthusiastic audience at the ‘Ahlan Modi’ event, he praised those in attendance from various regions of the UAE and different Indian states, acknowledging their role in shaping history. The event, marked by the national anthems of both nations, emphasized the strong connection among hearts despite diverse origins.

Modi highlighted the moment as a celebration of the deep-rooted friendship between India and the UAE, resonating throughout the iconic stadium. As India and the UAE signed eight pacts, he stated that he felt at home in Abu Dhabi. The crowd’s chants of “Modi-Modi” reflected their collective respect and admiration for the Indian Prime Minister.

Acknowledging the significance of the occasion, Modi conveyed a message from the 1.4 billion people of India, symbolized by the scent of the soil from their birthplace. With approximately 3.5 million Indian nationals forming the largest expat population in the UAE, the diaspora plays a crucial role in fostering bilateral relations.

Reflecting on his first visit to the UAE in 2015, Modi recalled the warmth and hospitality extended by the Emirati authorities. He emphasized the unfamiliarity of the negotiation world during that time and reminisced about the cordial reception from the Crown Prince and his five brothers, expressing gratitude for their affection and warmth.

The visit aimed at promoting trade and investment also marked the dedication of the largest Hindu temple in the Middle East. Modi reminisced about proposing the idea of the grand (BAPS) temple in Abu Dhabi to the Crown Prince in 2015,

which was met with an immediate and positive response. The Prime Minister’s visit underscored the deepening ties between the two nations and the shared commitment to fostering mutual understanding and cooperation.
