In a significant development in New Delhi, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the first time since his decision to break away from the Mahagathbandhan alliance and form a government in Bihar led by the BJP.
This move took place last month, signaling a shift in political dynamics. Emphasizing his commitment to the NDA alliance, Nitish Kumar reiterated his dedication to serving the public and expressed optimism about the accelerated development under the NDA coalition government at both the central and state levels.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister addressed top reporters, recalling his previous association with the BJP from 1995 to 2013. Despite having left the party twice before, Nitish Kumar asserted that he has no intentions of repeating this decision and affirmed the JD(U)’s continued commitment to the NDA alliance. In addition to meeting with Prime Minister Modi, Nitish Kumar held discussions with JP Nadda, the national president of the BJP, and Union Minister Amit Shah, further solidifying the alliance.
Union Minister Amit Shah, speaking on behalf of the BJP, expressed confidence in the NDA government under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s leadership. The Chief Minister also engaged in meaningful conversations with the BJP national president, covering various topics related to the advancement and development of Bihar. The meeting was strategically held in anticipation of the upcoming critical floor test scheduled for February 12, where the newly formed NDA government will demonstrate its support in the Bihar Assembly.
Earlier, Nitish Kumar praised the interim budget presented by the Narendra Modi government, highlighting its positive aspects. This budget, the final one to be presented in the Lok Sabha for the year, received acclaim from the Bihar Chief Minister. Having recently joined the BJP-led NDA after a year-long opposition, Nitish Kumar commended Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s budget as a forward-looking document. He particularly lauded the establishment of three new economic corridors, anticipating improvements in logistical efficiency and overall economic growth for the nation.
