Indian women’s cricket sensation Deepti Sharma, celebrated for her stellar performances both domestically and internationally, received a prestigious honor from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Following the accolade, Chief Minister Yogi appointed Deepti Sharma to the position of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Uttar Pradesh.

The appointment came as a significant recognition of Deepti Sharma’s accomplishments, coupled with a prize money reward of three crore rupees. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath personally presented the DSP appointment letter to the accomplished cricketer during a ceremony in Lucknow, creating waves of joy among her family and the local community.

Expressing her gratitude, Deepti Sharma acknowledged the opportunity to serve her country once again in a new capacity, emphasizing her commitment to contribute beyond her cricketing career. She highlighted the increased responsibilities accompanying the role of DSP, believing her performance would not only benefit the nation but also positively impact the national cricket team.

Deepti Sharma, hailing from Avadhpuri Colony, Agra, grew up playing cricket with her brother Sumit, supported by their father, Shri Bhagwan Sharma, a retired railway worker. Her cricketing journey began at the age of twelve when she was selected for the Uttar Pradesh team. Since her debut in 2014 for the Indian women’s cricket team, Deepti Sharma has showcased remarkable adaptability and skill, particularly during the successful New Zealand tour.

Lucknow celebrated the achievements of Indian athletes on Republic Day, with cash prizes distributed to winners, including Deputy SP Parul Chaudhary. The felicitation ceremony honored medalists with cash prizes of Rs 3 crore, Rs 1.50 crore, and Rs 75 lakh, along with appointment letters for individuals like Deputy Superintendent of Police Parul Chaudhary.

Recognizing the achievements of women in cricket, the Board of Control for Cricket in India recently awarded players for their outstanding performances. Deepti Sharma, notably, was named the Indian Women’s International Cricketer of the Year 2023 at an awards event in Hyderabad. The Agra-born cricketer, alongside fellow players like Poonam Yadav and Preeti Dimri, continues to make her hometown proud.

Having played cricket alongside local talents like Deepak Chahar in Awadhpuri, Agra, Deepti Sharma’s dedication bore fruit in 2023, with medals at the Asian Games in China and the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Her remarkable all-around skills earned her the ICC “Player of the Month” title in December 2023, making her the second female Indian cricketer to achieve this recognition.
