Bhagwat Sonawane, the Chief Fire Officer at the Kulgaon-Badlapur Fire Services, reported that the explosions were powerful enough to be heard from a distance of one kilometer. Additionally, tempos and vehicles outside the factory caught fire due to chemicals exploding and spilling from drums.
