Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a packed schedule as he is set to visit Andhra Pradesh. One of the highlights of his visit is the official opening of the new campus of the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes, and Narcotics in Palasamudram.

Additionally, he will be engaging in a road show in Kochi, Kerala. During his visit, the Prime Minister will also meet an officer trainee from Bhutan’s Royal Civil Service and interact with the 74th and 75th batches of the Indian Revenue Service (customs and indirect taxes).

An important part of the Prime Minister’s itinerary includes offering prayers and darshan at the Veerabhadra Temple in Lepakshi, Andhra Pradesh, around 1:30 PM. Later in the day, at approximately 3:30 PM, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to arrive in Palasamudram, Sri Sathya Sai District.

In the evening, at 7:15 PM, PM Modi will conduct a road show in Kochi, Kerala. This visit to Kochi is part of a larger plan, as early in the morning on January 17, the Prime Minister will offer prayers and darshan at the Guruvayur Temple in Kerala. Following this, around 10:30 AM, he will officially inaugurate significant infrastructure projects related to the pots, shipping, and waterways industries, at approximately noon.

These projects, valued at over Rs 4000 crore in Kochi, include the International Ship Repair Facility at Cochin Shipyard Limited and the New Dry Dock. The New Dry Dock, with an estimated cost of Rs 1800 crore, is being constructed at the current CSL location in Kochi and is one of the largest marine infrastructures in the area. It measures 310 meters in length, 75/60 meters in width, 13 meters in depth, and up to 9.5 meters in draft.

The International Ship Repair Facility, costing approximately Rs 970 crore, is equipped with six workstations, a 6000T ship lift system, a transfer system, and a 1400-meter-long berth capable of accommodating seven vessels of 130 meters in length simultaneously. This facility is a significant step towards positioning Kochi as a global center for ship repair, enhancing CSL’s capabilities in ship repair.

This marks Prime Minister Modi’s second trip to Kerala within two weeks, following his roadshow in Thrissur on January 3.
