Gifts for the upcoming consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22 are intricately engraved and hold significant symbolism. The presents include a colossal 108-foot-long incense stick, a massive 2100-kg bell, an 1100-kg gold footwear, a 10-foot high keyed lock, and a unique timepiece capable of indicating time in eight different nations simultaneously. The original artists behind these gifts are hopeful that the majestic temple will incorporate these offerings into its grandeur.

The enthusiasm surrounding the event is further heightened by the diverse range of gifts pouring in from all corners of the nation and even from overseas. Approximately 3000 presents, including clothing, jewelry, and silver shoes, were sent to Lord Ram from Janakpura, the birthplace of Sita. These gifts were transported in a convoy of around thirty cars from the Janakpura Dham Ram Janaki Temple in Nepal to Ayodhya this week.
A special delegation from Sri Lanka visited Ayodhya and received a distinctive gift from Ashok Vatika. The gift was a rock from Ashok Vatika, a garden mentioned in the epic Ramayana where Ravan captivated Sita. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to participate in the consecration celebration on January 22, marking the completion of the temple’s initial stage.
The construction of the Ram Temple gained momentum after a landmark decision by the Supreme Court in 2019, resolving a century-old temple-mosque controversy. The court ordered the allocation of a different five-acre plot for the mosque while endorsing the construction of the Ram Temple at the contested site.
As the temple officials prepare for the significant event, numerous gifts have been received. Notably, an environmentally friendly incense stick measuring 108 feet in length and weighing 3610 kg was crafted in Vadodara, Gujarat. The stick, prepared by resident Viha Bharwad, consists of ingredients such as gum resin, coconut shells, ghee, cow dung, and herbs, and is expected to last for approximately 1.5 months.
In addition to the colossal incense stick, Gujarat has sent a 56-inch gold foil temple drum (nagara) from Dariyapur, crafted by the entire India Dabgar Samaj. This majestic drum will find its place in the temple’s outdoor spaces.
Another remarkable gift from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, is a 400kg lock and key created by locksmith Satya Prakash Sharma, measuring 10 feet tall, 4.6 feet wide, and 9 inches thick. This colossal lock-and-key is touted as the world’s largest and has been presented to the trust as a symbolic gesture for use at the temple.

Finally, from Jalesar, Uttar Pradesh, an alloy of eight metals called “Ashtadhatu” weighing 2100 kg has been prepared for a bell. The bell, which took two years to craft, will be sent to Ayodhya only after all ceremonies are completed, adding a touch of grandeur to the celebration.
