In Mathura today, a collision occurred on the Yamuna Expressway involving two buses due to poor visibility caused by thick fog. The accident resulted in at least 40 reported injuries. The entire North India region is currently experiencing record-low temperatures, and the prevalent fog is causing disruptions in road, rail, and flight operations.

Early reports indicate that the collision took place at Milestone 110 Raya Cut in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, around 3 a.m. The buses involved were traveling from Dholpur to Noida and from Etawah to Noida, respectively. The thick fog, a common occurrence during this season, is believed to be the primary factor contributing to the accident.

In the aftermath of the collision, 31 injured passengers were admitted to the district hospital, while nine others were taken to different medical facilities for treatment. Yamuna Expressway The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert due to the persistent fog, which is significantly affecting visibility in Punjab, Delhi, Haryana, North Rajasthan, and UP.

The IMD recommends cautious driving, especially on highways, advising travelers to use fog lights. A red alert has been declared in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), encompassing Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad. Similar alerts are in place for Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh, with a yellow alert in effect for Rajasthan.

To enhance safety in these challenging conditions, drivers are urged to drive within their lanes, avoid sudden lane changes, and ensure their vehicles are visible to others.
