The AAP says it has plans to arrest Arvind Kejriwal.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has once again refused to respond to an additional summons from the Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday. The head of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was previously interrogated by the investigative agency on January 3 in connection with a money laundering case related to excise policies. Despite labeling the notification as “illegal,” Kejriwal expressed his willingness to cooperate with the probe in a statement to the Enforcement Directorate.

The AAP alleges that the investigation agency aims to prevent Chief Minister Kejriwal from running for office and is planning to arrest him. The party claims that the government shields corrupt politicians and selectively targets opposition leaders. Additionally, they argue that politicians allied with the BJP face no consequences, provided they cooperate with investigations. Security around the AAP’s Rouse Avenue office in Delhi has been heightened in the meantime.

BJP National Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla criticized Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal, accusing him of having “something to hide” after the incident. Kejriwal has once again ignored the third summons. Court denies bail to Manish Sisodiya and Sanjay Singh, asserting the presence of a money trail. Despite this, they continue to portray themselves as victims, as mentioned in a post on social media by Kejriwal.

Congressman Udit Raj criticized the investigative authorities, stating that they are pressuring opposition leaders rather than fulfilling their duties. According to Udit Raj, the Enforcement Directorate is conducting searches on associates of Hemant Soren in Jharkhand. Earlier, Bhupesh Baghel, the former chief minister of Chhattisgarh, received letters from the Enforcement Directorate and faced baseless accusations just before the elections. Kejriwal, being part of the opposition alliance, is allegedly facing undue pressure from these organizations.

Priyanka Kakkar, Chief National Spokesperson for the AAP, mentioned on Tuesday that the party would respond to the Enforcement Directorate’s summons to Kejriwal in accordance with the law. When asked about Kejriwal’s appearance for the January 3 summons, Kakkar responded, “Our legal team will address this question better. We will abide by the law in our actions.” Kejriwal had previously ignored two summonses for November 2 and December 21, dismissing them as illegal and politically motivated. This third notice continues the ongoing legal and political tensions between the AAP and the investigative authorities.
