I am set to attend several programs in the aforementioned states over the next two days. The events kick off in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, where I will be speaking at the convocation ceremony of Bharathidasan University. Simultaneously, there will be an opening ceremony for the new airport terminal building, along with the commencement of other development projects. According to PM Modi’s statement, these projects are expected to benefit many individuals. The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has noted that the Tiruchirapalli International Airport’s new terminal building alone incurred a cost of more than 1100 crores.

The airport’s design is influenced by Tiruchirappalli’s vibrant culture, featuring elements such as Kolam paintings and colors inspired by Srirangam Temple. The terminal has the capacity to serve over 44 lakh passengers annually and approximately 3,500 passengers during peak hours. It boasts 60 check-in counters, 5 baggage carousels, 60 arrival immigration counters, and 44 departure immigration counters. Second only to Chennai in Tamil Nadu, Tiruchirapalli’s international airport ranks as the state’s second-largest in terms of foreign passenger traffic.

In Lakshadweep, PM Modi is slated to inaugurate a monument dedicated to the country and lay the foundation stone for development projects valued at over 1150 crores. The Kochi-Lakshadweep Islands Submarine Optical Fiber Connection (KLI-SOFC) projects will be officially launched, and the Prime Minister will dedicate the Low-Temperature Thermal Desalination (LTTD) plant in Kadmat, capable of producing 1.5 lakh liters of pure drinking water daily. Additionally, the first-ever battery-backed solar power facility in Lakshadweep, located in Kavaratti, will be inaugurated.

During a public gathering in Tiruchirappalli on Tuesday, Prime Minister Modi expressed his optimism for a successful and peaceful 2024. He considers himself fortunate to address his first public function in Tamil Nadu in the new year. Highlighting the significance of the introduced development projects valued at about 20,000 crores, PM Modi believes they will accelerate Tamil Nadu’s progress. He congratulated everyone involved in these initiatives.
